Hi All,
Well just a quick story, two years ago I signed up for a Barclaycard Initial at 28.9% I they gave me it but with only a 300 limit. Anyway in Jan 2008 I called to cancel as I had recived my new MBNA card at 15.9 with £2500 limit, the lady on the end of the phone, said she could change me to a plat card and increase the limit to £600 and drop the rate to 14.9% apr, great I agreed to it. My next statment came and yes the rate had dropped but to only 17.0% and my limit had been raised to £600 pounds. Anyway a month later I got my statment and my limit had been slashed to £300 only a month after I got it. Anyway I complaint to Barcalycard and after 8 weeks got a lovley final responce saying how it was down to indaicate staff trianing blah blah blah she should of promised what she did and if I was happy I could go to the Finanical Ombisman.
Well i did lol, six months on I got a letter back saying they are still waiting to pass it to one of there senior advisors, anyway tonight I log into my Barcalycard to pay my bill and well my old card is closed, low and behold there is a new one on there, but it says Barclaycard Gold Visa and the limit has been taken back upto £600
What is this gold visa ? it does not show on the home page ? according to the new card I have no balance on it but thats odd I owed £101 on my old card but I have never seen Barclaycard Gold advertised, just what is it, could this be the responce to the ombisman oh I hope so, Ive had such a great time with it.
Anyone have any ideas ?
Matt

My dad has one of these, but he has a supa-dupa credit score and has AMEX cards and stuff like that, as far as I am aware this Gold Visa is by internal selection only ergo "invite", generally made to existing customers only, maybe I am mistaken but if so I am sure I will be corrected soon.
(Well done on the Gold Card ;-)Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0 -
No i dont live in India, guess its why they give you when they wants to make you feel special, After further looking into the online system as well they have lowered the apr down to 14.9% on my last standard barclaycard with them, so looks like it is the result of my complaint to the FSO, that will learn them to mess with me, still want to know where my £101 balance on it has gone though, i clicked on my gold card to make payment and it says sorry there is no balance due, yet on the transcations it says balance from last statement £101 Credit Limit £600 Available £600 am all confused didnt even know until I looked onliine, nice of them to pre warn me about chaning my card, good job I didnt try to use it looks like its already deactivated, I might moan about that as well lol0

fwiw it's generally understood that a platinum card outranks a gold card; however, both are subjective because it used to be that you needed a £20K income for gold and £30K for platinum. Looks like you've been messed about a bit. You've never seen me, but I've been here all along - watching and learning...:cool:0

My student Barclaycard was upgraded to a gold card when I graduated.. closed it soon after the 6 months interest free purchases they gave me at the time ran out as they weren't interested in doing any more deals. Colour of the card means nothing, its all about your usage and what you need: CL, APR, 0% period, cashback etc..0

According to a friend who works for Barclaycard, customers' cards are automatically upgraded to Gold if they settle their monthly bills in full (and on time of course) for three consecutive years, so nothing whatever to do with income and, as pointed out above, you cannot apply for one.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
