    There are some reviews here:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005B9W6/qid=1130926267/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl/202-6038729-3950214

    and here:

    http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00005B9W6/qid=1130926378/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/103-8165255-4619868?v=glance&s=electronics&n=507846

opinions seem to be divided. Personally I've always used Duraglit to polish out scratches (which works some of the time), much cheaper.

This freeware utility has helped me recently. So many problems are caused by easily removable contaminants such as dust, fingerprints and other human detritus. A cleaning movement from the centre of the disk to the outside is recommended (radial). The data on the disk is arranged in rings around the centre . Concentric Rubbing/polishing in this direction is not reccomended, allthough it may seem the most natural direction for those that remember vinyl gramophonic technology.

Filling the material with a material that matches the refractive index of the original is one method. Abrading the material that surrounds the scratch until it is flat is another. Keep any solvents away from the printed side of the CD. The appearance can be damaged by prolonged contact.

I am all for a fair exchange of faulty media with the publisher at a fair rate. the alternative is to make copies and use them given the media is perishable. This is termed fair use.

    What wax do you recommend.

Turtle Wax its the muts nuts.... I used to be in the motor trade and
metal polisher and I wouldnt reccomend a compound, but a quick (and I mean quick)
rub with T-Cut then a buff of wax over the Top saved my XP Disc.

This should only be done by someone who knows what they are doing.

I tried the wax option ...and got no result unfortunately.

The disks I want to restore are the playstation disks and the kids DVD's. These are all disks I can't keep track of. They use them and abuse them...I tell them over and over to put them away :wall:

I would like to copy the Playstation disks but would need to alter the playstation to be able to play the copies.

Not a cheap option but I had a cd skimmed. Cost £3.99 but saved an important cd for me anyway and way cheaper than buying again.

I have learnt my lesson and now to look after my cd's I make back up copies and use the back up and keep the original safe.
