tesco do not take payment until they dispatch the goods. They check if the credit card exists by placing a reserve.
good luck tho, tell us how u get on. I'm going to phone in the morning.0 -
I note with interest that your email cancelling my order arrived immediately after I logged into my account to check the order status which at that time was still live. I also note that whilst you state in the email that you are unable to obtain the item it is still available for sale on your site albeit at a much higher price, please respond with your reasons for cancelling my order and displaying a blatantly misleading offer on your site prior to my contacting the trading standards office to report this offence under the distance selling regulations, I am also in contact with a number of other prospective purchasers of this item at the stated price and it is our intention to pursue this matter and make public if necessary the outcome.

So far for me :-
Virgin order 1 - Still no cancel email (ordered at 12:36) just got "stock delayed" email
Virgin order 2 - Got Cancel email. Send email in response saying I would accept individual items that made up the bundle as completion of our contract at original price.
Tesco Order 1 - Just got cancel email. Sent email in response saying they are still taking orders for the higher priced bundle and would accept that as completion of our contract at original price.
See how things go... I may drop a line to some lawyer friends and see where they think I stand.
Cheers

This is the bouncer I received,
Thank you for emailing Tesco.
We have recently experienced some technical difficulties with our email system,
which we are working to resolve.
Unfortunately due to our high volumes of emails, this means that our response
back to you may take up to 7 days.
We would also like to ask you, if possible, to avoid emailing us again in
relation to your original contact as the volume of emails on our server is
affecting the speed with which we are able to reply to customers.
*Finally if your email is regarding cancellation of an Entertainment, Flower or
Book order, please call us on:
08457 22 55 33
Thank you for your patience.
Regards
Tesco Customer Service

As for those that excuse this by way of the error being across the board at these sites due to one supplier, what happened with the phone deals I don't recall them being anywhere but Woolies?Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0

i ordered at 9.05am on 19/11/04 and they have cancelled mine.
This is the 3rd time Tesco have done this to me in the past year. I have emailed their local trading standards in the past but there isn't anything they're prepared to do.
Should inform Watchdog etc about the practices of this rogue supermarket.0 -

I agree. They obviously made a price mistake and should have just mailed people saying so and offering goods at the correct price, as under their T&C they state that no contract is formed until goods are dispatched and no monies taken until then. I think most people would have accepted that.
However it is the fact they state that no stock can be found that has wound people up.
Clearly tesco have managed this price mismatch badly and lied rather than just tell the truth. (which they could have done, and still not supply at that price).
What a weird managment decision to respond in the way they have ?????0
