Hotels in Barcelona

Hi this is my first post so please be gentle.

OH & I have decided on the spur of the moment to go to Barcelona for a week sometime this week. Well easijet have some cheap flights and the weather is pants here with no sign of improvement.

Does anyone know of any nice hotels in the centre near all the tourist attractions etc. Please bear in mind we'll be taking along our 8 year old DS, so we don't really want anything directly over a nightclub!

Many thanks in anticipation.

aim for near ramblas area. having a little one, you will need somewhere within walking distance. H10 Montcada usually is a fave of people I know. My preference is Husa Oriente on Las Ramblas or Petit Palace Jardin just off the ramblas. The latter is ultra mod.

i would avoid hotel california if it pops up. there was an awful lot of men at on the breakfast tables for 2 and bite marks in the pillow cases
  • A couple of years ago we stayed at the Hotel Lleo which isn't far from Las Ramblas. We were very satisfied with it but check TripAdvisor for up-to-date reviews.

  • Myself and the wife had originally booked into the IC Princessa Sofia near the Camp Nou in 2004. It was so bad that the next morning we went to the Grand Marina at the very end of the Ramblas, where the ferries leave for the islands. They were fantastic and, because we relayed our experience, they upgraded us to a suite free of charge and also sent us in a Merc to collect our luggage from the IC.

The hotel was great and 10 minutes walk from the actual Ramblas and therefore very peaceful.
