How to search for "Dual Layer DVD-R"?

I want to search eBay for Dual Layer DVD-R disks. Now in the past I would have searched for:

"Dual Layer" "DVD-R"

but the new Search engine also shows me DVD+R disks. This swamps my search results (there are many more DVD+R than DVD-R disks out there), so I tried:

"Dual Layer" "DVD-R" -"DVD+R"

but this also doesn't work. The search engine is showing me what eBay thinks I want, rather than what I actually want!

Any suggestions?

I've just done a search for Dual Layer DVD-R disks and it only found 40 items...

Just change the best match to any of the other options and it should just bring up the exact items you want.

also check UKDVDR and SVP as i find ebay prices are often more than those suppliers

If you link things together it will search for those terms...

I.e. if you searched for (using exactly what i put below)

"DL DVDR,DL DVD R,Dual DVDR,Dual DVD R,Dual Layer DVDR,Dual Layer DVD R" -"dvd+r,dvd +r"

But as above I would use real stores for purchases like that as they tend to be cheaper and a lot easier to find.

Harveybobbles - When I search on that phrase, I get about 100 hits, but most of those are DVD+R, not DVD-R. Is that what you are seeing?

steviebabes - where do you set this? I have tried "exact match only" and "exact phrase" in Advanced Search, but it still brings up mostly auctions with DVD+R in the title.

custardy - thanks for the suggestion, but I'm really trying to understand how the eBay search function has changed (a number of my searches are bringing back items that do not contain my search phrases!).

Do you not have an 'opt out' option at the bottom of the page to go back to the old search? Mine's still there.

i searched for DVD_R

then on the left column

selected storage & media

then selected dual layer

Don't buy blank DVDs on eBay. There are so many fakes out there, you have no idea what you're getting.
