WHO is ready to make money from equities!?

Options
So, with this downturn kicking in, the people who currently have no equity investments or do not own a house are at a very advantaged position to start investing when investments & house prices reach their trough.

Put down any ideas of investments that you think will be perfect to invest in & when you expect the prices reach this point! This will be the perfect place to discuss the timing of investing in certain equities too!

Ideas please...

Obviously if you hit the property funds right, while everyone is still scared of falling prices you can make a nice profit.

  • Lots of people. Unfortunately for you they won't be on this site reading or replying to your post. They would be too busy making money. :)

Above is not in jest: I agree with your points above, this is a right time to get in to the market if you know what you're buying into and when to jump ship but it requires lots of time and loads of number crunching.

It's the times of panic when intelligent investors will be making most of their money (most will be losing most of their monies at this time too). For the majority of the people, I guess, sitting by the side and having their interest earn good money is advisable.

Trying to guess the bottom or top of any market is like trying to catch a falling knife. IMHO, property has much further to drop, and S&S are far to volatile to even consider ATM.
In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:

My guess is that inflation will top out in Sept so possibly a good time to move into bonds.

  • Good luck to those taking the plunge :) I've done this in my younger days and even though I want to do it again I certainly don't have enough appetite for it :(

These certainly are interesting times, a very good time to make some dough although a lot to loose as well.
  • I'm slightly ignorant with all this. Been thinking about investing some money somewhere in bonds or shares but don't even know where to start. I don't want to invest a lot, not yet anyway. I just want to make some money. Can anyone help me, give me some info on where to start

Depends if you want to risk your initial capital - if you dont a fixed rate bond might be the best option. Also depends on your tax status etc. If you want to invest in funds/shares and you are a tax payer, the best place to start would be an equity ISA.
