Hi We have too much money in Halifax..or do we...? when will the protected savings be increased?...we already have quite a lot in N Rock...are we sensible to move cash from Halifax to N Rock ? Thanks ian

Harriet Harmon during a recent Prime Minister's questions, refused to answer a question from the Tories as to when the £35k guarantee limit would be raised, so it's still anybody's guess.
There is no reason not to move more money into NR whilst the government continues to guarantee every penny that's deposited with no limit, although you could probably find better interest rates elsewhere.

Don't just look for a high rate, look for one that comes with a decent guarantee that it will be linked to base rate for some time to come.
