Digital Camera Broken? Water damage?

This is a follow on from my original thread:

http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=91465

I have added some photos so if anybody knows how much this might cost i would be very grateful. Sometimes it works fine, other times it does.

Could you give me a rough price for how much you think this may cost to
repair?

Thanks,

Matt

I had a quote from a company saying I will need a new ccd unit to be fitted.
The cost of this is £65.00 plus £6.00 carriage plus vat

I have a Canon camera which has failed recently. The CCD wasn't the problem with mine unfortunately but it is a known issue with many cameras and some offer free repairs. The link below mentions this problem with Fuji cameras - maybe it will help you?

If you scroll down it mentions F410, I know this is Fuji USA but if you do some searching on this you may find UK cameras affected.

    Good Luck

I have binned my Canon and gone for a cheaper, hopefully reliable Casio!

Sell your old camera on ebay? I got £65 for my old damaged digi cam a few months ago.

Yeah i was thinking of doing that :) Cheers
  • I would have thought replacing the ccd unit would be a pretty specialist job and not too cheap to get the bits either. So I'd say £65 seems like reasonable value. The question is can you get a better one for a little bit more? (even better if you can flog the old one on ebay!)

I doubt very much if its repairable without incurring great cost. It might even be the cmos chip that has got damaged. It would be most likely cheare to get another camera, Botts had a 5mb camera last week at a knock down price.
