I went down to my local benifits office (early to avoid queues) to get a course form stamped, got there and it was open but absolutly deserted, not even a security guard. So stood in the foyer, i phoned them and explained there was no-one there and i get told that due to a govenment reshuffle they no longer do a counter service and you now have to phone them to sort out any problems or to request an apointment, even the woman i spoke to said it was ridiclous. I then had to post my application form in the post box with a note attached and wait for them to send it back. So then i had to walk back across to town to buy paper a pen and some paper clips.
It is now a really bad system, you have people who might not be able to afford to phone them because they are struggling on income support or a state pension and now have to pay to call them. Any one who has had to go to a benifits office the queues can be atrosious(sp?) so how much is it now going to cost people who have to phone them and get held in a massive wait. They are not even going to make it a freephone number. It has proberbly been done so they can save money and some big wig can get a nice new shiny car.
I always used to stick up for the ss office because theyreally are a big help to people, not many countrys would hand out cash to help when raising kids and whatnot ( although i don't agree with them when they give addicts extra money for their addiction) but with this they just take the michael.
Rant over now. Thanks, feel a bit better

Work like you don't need money,
Love like you've never been hurt,
And dance like no one's watching
Save the cheerleader, save the world!
