As film fans the world over gear up for the hotly anticipated theatrical premiere of Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight this summer, Warner Home Video is proud to announce the debut of Batman Begins and Gotham Knight in outstanding hi-definition Blu-ray.
Batman Begins, starring the brilliant Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne and directed by the critically acclaimed Christopher Nolan, explores the origins of the Batman legend and the Dark Knight’s emergence as a force for good in Gotham. The Blu-ray edition brings Nolan’s visceral vision of a corrupt and crumbling Gotham City to life with stunning high definition visuals and immersive, uncompressed surround sound.
After travelling the world seeking the means to fight injustice after the death of his parents and looking to evoke fear in those who prey on the fearful, Bruce Wayne returns to Gotham City to unveil his alter-ego: Batman, a masked crusader who uses his strength, intellect and an array of high tech deceptions to fight the sinister forces that threaten the city.
The new Blu-ray edition allows fans to follow Christopher Nolan’s vision and direction via the exclusive ‘picture-in-picture’ In Movie Experience – the first available on a Warner Blu-ray disc. At the touch of a button on the remote, viewers can see the director talk through the action scenes, demonstrate bluescreen techniques and stunts and discuss other key elements of filming – all while the main film plays simultaneously. As well as a host of additional unseen content, the Blu-ray edition also contains three additional Easter Eggs and hidden links to enter a world of behind the scenes extras and special features.
Bridging the story between Batman Begins and the much anticipated theatrical release of The Dark Knight, Gotham Knight is an anime-inspired anthology film made up of six different action packed chapters – all delivered in jaw-dropping, pin-sharp Blu-ray high-definition.
These globe spanning adventures pit Batman against the fearsome Scarecrow and two villains he’s never faced before: the freakish Killer Croc and the unerring marksman known as Deadshot.
The six standalone chapters, each with stylish art from some of Japans finest anime visionaries, include:
Have I Got a Story for You
The Dark Knight
Field Test
In Darkness Dwell
Working Through Pain
Deadshot
Action packed and visually spectacular, Batman Begins and Gotham Knight are a must see in high definition. Both discs include a host of exclusive extra content and include limited edition packaging, with Batman Begins featuring a spectacular 3D lenticular sleeve and collectable art cards, and are available to own on Blu-ray from 14th July 2008 - the perfect preparation ahead of the Caped Crusader’s adventures in the movie event of the summer, The Dark Knight.
Gotham Knight is also available on DVD from 14th July.
