Morgan Stanley changing to Barclaycard

Hi,

I have a Morgan Stanley cashback credit card which has been taken over by Barclaycard.

I called Morgan Stanley to close the card as I wanted to reapply with Barclaycard later this year to take advantage of their 0% balance transfer. They told me I would be better off just waiting for the switch over as Barclaycard would offer this deal to current Morgan Stanley customers.

Is this true? or are balance transfers normally offered to new customers only?

The Morgan Stanley card is changing to "Barclaycard Cashback" so it does not appear to be a balance transfer card.

It's not uncommon for card companies that have taken over another firm, to offer their newly-acquired customers special rates, in order to retain their business. What's more Barclaycard has a reputation for competitive existing-customer deals (including 0% BTs), so I would think it's worth sticking around for a bit ;)
