Sky+ and Pay Once Watch Forever

Hi,
I have a quick question!
I've just signed up for the 'pay one watch forever' deal with the intention of cancelling after 4 months and possibly moving to Freesat, thereby saving the installation cost. I'm thinking about buying a Sky+ box independently and asking the engineer to install this when he comes (I realise I'll probably have to pay something). I'd like Sky+ so we don't have to change back to our digibox to pause and record tv, and could dispense with the digibox. Will this plan work, and will I lose the ability to pause and record tv on the Sky+ when my Sky subscription ends and reverts to 'Freesat from Sky'?
Thanks!

I have been waiting a long time for Sky+ functionality for all the Freeview channels on a sat box with no subscription whatsoever and no phone line connected to the box (not even temporarily).
The product - a Freesat PVR - seems to be just around the corner, I'd wait for that.0 -
You can DIY now:

I would imagine it's no harder to DIY with GBPVR in Windows with a Hauppauge DVB-S tuner card, but MythTV works so well with Freeview for me that I've not been motivated to try Freesat.0 -
If you definitely want to stick with Sky and use the Sky+ recording facility without any subscription, you'll have to pay £10/month.
You have to have some sort of subscription (base package being £16/month) to get the Sky+ facilities for free.Dave. :wave:0
