Hi
Looking for a little bit of advice.
As some may be aware we are looking for a new pup. We have the breed.
I have tried googling it but no luck.
My q's is
I know that in all breeds there can be variations in size of the breed, so taking into account that the stud and dame are the same size , in small dogs that have large heads e.g pugs, bostons and frenchies does, how the mother of the pup delivered, indicate how the pup will welp. Hope i've made myself plain.
Thanks for any advice from people who have these type of dogs

To some extent, if the grandmother of a potential pup had a C-section to whelp the mother there is a high chance the mother will also need one. But a dam whelped naturally can still need a c-section.
In high risk breeds C-sections are often planned anyway, as a preventative measure. If the b!tch is allowed to whelp naturally and it goes wrong, by the time she's been rushed to a vet for an emergency c-section then some if not all of the pups will probably die and sometimes the mother too. When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.0 -
Yes and no....family history can be an indicator as to the likelihood to self-whelp but a c-section can be required with any litter for any number of reasons (inertia, stuck puppy etc) so always bet to be prepared for that eventuality.0

Hi
Thanks for the advice, was seeing if it would make any difference to my choice of breed line , but I guess from the answers then it doesn't really matter.
Thanks all0 -

I would always choose the self whelping lines where possible, for what its worth. Although any dog of any breed can requre a c-section, it is always preferable, IMO, for !!!!!es to have the capability to whelp naturally (unforseen circumstances not withstanding).0 -
REally there is no such thing as "self Whelping Lines" !!!!!, each litter and pup can have diffiuculties. Yes some lines do have luck with breeding but most RESPECTED RELIABLE breeder, will have had c sections which have been unexpected, and certainly will not advertise such claims as " free" "SELF" whelping lines. especially if you're only wanting a pet dog. does eveyone womon have a normal, nature birth? I have been breeding and showing for over 30 years. And of course, I would sell to Anyone, who asked about size of litter, whelping potential of a puppy. even if they were experienced breeder. IMHO
