I know that we could buy a slingbox and connect him via his internet, buts its the large outlay I am not happy with.

I really didn't think that mulitroom would be that simple! As inactive stated, if it was then everyone would be doing it.

    Ah well!

His best bet would be to contact a reliable Satellite Installer in Spain, they are as rare as hen's teeth, but there are a few, they will get it sorted for him.;)

    I hate Sky.

Unfortunately, there's no choice here. It's Sky or nothing. We don't even get FM signal here, let alone terresterial TV!

We've had Sky+ for years. You have to watch them like a hawk. I've lost track of just how many times they've tried to stiff us.

One of my favourites was when they sent us a free offer of three films to be watched on Sky Box Office; one free film a month for three months.

We watched one the first month, were abroad the next month, and then we watched the third.

We then got billed for the two we'd watched.

Why? "Ah well, our offer said you had to watch three and you didn't, you only watched two; so you lose your entitlement and have to pay for them."

The thing that I can't work out is whether, because of their monopoly, they just don't realise how greatly so many of their customers truly hate them, or whether they simply don't care.

Don't laugh at banana republics. :rotfl:

As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.

Yep i agree FREESAT.....i have over 80 channels using freesat (with HD) one payment of around 130+ quid and your away however you will need to get a dish installed (can pick up off ebay for 20 quid) can do it yourself with a sat finder (3 quid off ebay) and a compass to get the right direction VERY VERY simple

and you never have to worry about bloody phone calls or monthly bills.....i think its an excellent service

Just to add, that any Sky dish should work OK with Freesat.;)

If I bought dad a freesat box then would it work in Spain? He does have a large satalitte monstosity in the garden. He cannot get BBC all day though, it goes out of range after approx 3pm.

Erm... Whats a sat finder?? Although I assume his dish is pointing in the right direction anyway??!!

There are reports of signal strengths of Sky in Spain on Astra2d.com, and people do report losing BBC's signal mid afternoon until the next morning.

After checking to make sure the dish is perfectly aligned using a Sat Finder. Which is a small meter that plugs into the LNB on the dish, and tells you how strong the signal is, to allow to check alignment and polorization. The next option is to buy a bigger dish, dependent on where you are....http://www.astra2d.com/spain.htm Even as much as 3 metres!

EDIT : There are cheaper sat finder on Ebay.

Here's another thought as BBC/ITV Freesat use the same sat as sky at 28.2degrees SE then he could go and buy a freesat box and use that
