3% fee mean that they charge you 3% of the value of the BT as a fee. so if you BT 2,500 then you would pay £75 as a fee ...
  • Hi there sorry to gatecrash ur post, but I too have a similar query that I would like some advice or clarification on.

Just recently got the capital one Platinum card with 0% transfer till October 2009 and 0% on purchases till Oct 2009. Just used it for balance transfer HOWEVER, had no choice due to unforeseen situation but to make a £30 quid cashwithdrawal..............after reading this post and checking the small print, seems that 'negative hierachy payment' will be come into play.....am soooooooo annoyed with myself as am soooo skint! Seems this £30 quid will cost me dearly as I cannot pay off my account balance. Will I have to apply for another 0% bt card? Any advice would be most appreciated, ok am away to kick myself now :(

At 1.94%, it'll cost you around 58p per month.

Not worth changing cards, especially when you've already paid a 3% BT fee and have around 14 months 0% remaining.

Cash advance = withdrawing cash from a cashpoint

Purchase = using your card to pay for something in a shop or online (some exceptions, one being gambling transactions which are not treated as purchases)

Money savers always know...never use a credit card in a cashpoint. It's the worst thing you could do.

Be aware that the purchase of some gift vouchers are also treated as Cash advances.

    Very sneaky IMO

The first thing to stress is that none of us knows the credit limit we will be given when selecting a new credit card.

If the worst happens, Martin's advice is to transfer what you can. Don't leave an offer unused out of exasperation. It's already on your credit file, so you may as well use it (Please see Martin's *Credit Card Limit: didn't get what you wanted?* article).

Which credit card did you apply for?
People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.
