Help - I've Deleted My Windows 98

I've deleted my Windows 98 package by mistake. I was tidying up my about 2 weeks ago and deleted it because at the time I thought it was something I didnt need because I didnt recognise the name. Now I dont have MS Word for my son's project at school and can't access what he has done - I dont have any disks as the pc was given to me and everything was already on it. Can someone please help silly me! thanks.

Note quite sure if you mean that your PC does not work at all or just that you've deleted your WIn98 Office Programs. Check the Recycle Bin - you may be able to restore files. Or download the Open Office application that's been mentioned on another thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=7233 it will open all your old docs.

Win 98 has no System restore though...
  • Agreed no system restore on 98 but how about the p.c. ?
My p.c. was an I.B.M. and there was I.B.M. software on that which allowed the equivalent of a system restore.
Please don't shoot me down, I'm as thick as the proverbial where these technical matters are concerned but it's just something that I remember getting me out of the fertiliser some years ago.

    ConfigSafe

    I'm running it right now.

You'd have this in the system tray:

Thanks have downloaded OpenOffice as I only use MS Word and it seems to have done the trick.

I did not crash my computer only the Office Programms.

    Thanks Everyone .
