ejones thanks yet again for such a helpful comment, I'm not quite sure why you are stalking me. This forum is here to ask for and give help and advice, not make personal comments on someone else's personal choices. Each to his own.

    Hi,

Sorry I didnot know where the airport was. It really is in the middle of nowhere!

Try https://www.finnair.com. They fly Heathrow - Helsinki - Ivalo. I managed to get flights for £315 each on my first attempt

I would still recommend ringing about the decent travel agents again, as prices do change all the time.

    Good Luck with the wedding

    Best regards

    Barry

boots_babe, did it occur to you that ejones was trying to be helpful?

You are probably very stressed out right now, for understandable reasons. If I were you, I'd try to relax a bit. Overreacting (e.g. with travel agency) won't help you and your friends finding the travel arrangements you are after.

Shoot me down, too, if it makes you feel better  - I still hope for you to find a solution if you approach things with less aggression.
  • It's ok innovate.
Years ago I was going to get married in Vegas, but my fiance (now wife) confided to one of her sisters who told the whole family, who in turn told my wife she would be disinherited if we married abroad.
We got married locally and I still cherish the photos of friends and family who attended.
I think in theory that boots_babe 's idea is good but in practise given the wherabouts of the place and that she wants friends and families to attend it is impractical.

Have you tried using Finnair? They fly to Ivalo for £296.10 return.

I have assumed that you are flying from London.

Hi guys thanks again for your responses. First things first, I only responded to ejones in that way because that is the 2nd rude post he has posted to me - the first one was much worse and completely uncalled for. So I do stand by my comment to him above as there really is no need to be nasty to one another; this forum is here for help and advice. I'm all for constructive criticism, but his 2 posts were far from it.
Almond thanks for the suggestion, but in terms of routes there is only one which is reasonable - there are roundabout routes with overnight stays but these are not worth it as are only about £30 cheaper it seems.

Yes you're right Bazza/Donnie I need Finnair - they are in fact the only airline that will do my route. The problem is that for our dates there was very little availability (which is annoying as we clearly did not intentionally leave it this late....however) and so higher prices. Spent yesterday ringing round everyone who does flight only and also those that specialise in Scandinavia. Ended up booking flights with Travelocity for £370 each.

So finally booked - properly this time. My family and I are still flabbergasted that any travel company could purport to make your bookings then 2.5 months later find out that no reservations have even been made. If we had found out even one week later I believe there would have been no seats left as there were hardly any yesterday.

Next week we'll be concentrating on sorting out Solitair as we really would not like to think of anyone else going through what we did, they cannot be allowed to act in this manner. Thanks again everyone for all your useful suggestions and support.
