Fuel smell

Options
Hi,

I don't post very often but am an avid reader of the board, especially the Old Style board so am hoping you can help with a query.

My boyfriend builds parts for Aeroplanes and as a result, his work clothes smell of oil and fuel a lot of the time. This is usually ok and it washes out fine but the other day he came home and it smelt like he had taken a shower at the petrol station before coming home.

I washed them on a normal 40 degree wash, then when I realised that was a tad optimistic, I washed them on a 90 degree wash but they still smell :(

Any ideas how I can get rid of it the smell? I use persil washing detergent (half a ball) and lenor fabric softner if that makes any difference?

thanks in advance :)

I wonder if that works for machine oil, too. Will try that next time YS comes home from his Saturday job (in an engineering company). His work clothes always smell of oil, and as I am too mean to do a wash just for his work stuff, that means other things sometimes pick up the aroma!
