Can anyne recommend a water proofer suitable for a fabric hood that applies well and has a decent lifespan? It looks like either Renovo or autoglym atm.

There's stuff you can buy in outdoor shops intended for tents like nikwax. Don't know if anything like that would be suitable.

Gtechniq i1 fabric nano coat is the best stuff I have used.

They are not a huge car care company but they are really pushing the boundaries when it comes to protection and restoration products for cars, their c4 plastic restorer is also an excellent product and unlike most it lasts for ages. the problem is the stuff isn't cheap but it is the best.

Their website is a nightmare to navigate, email uk@gtechniq.com
their product list is here with prices, I think they have an offer on at the moment.

15ml for £23, you're not kidding :D wonder how much plastic that treats.

LOL Yeah I did say expensive.

This is what 1 ml can do, it does go a long way.

Must admit I do like that if it gets that result and keeps it like that. The usual stuff I use looks great when applied but wears off within a week. Based on the pic I'd probably need 2 or 3 bottles for my entire car though (being one of those with big black plastic bumpers, trim and a rear spoiler).

It is expensive but it does last, I used stuff that would last until it rained which used to be ok during the summer but rain every day it isnt much use. A cheaper product that gives a few months is Black wow again about £20 a bottle but you get 4oz in the bottle. That will last a few months no problem.
• I used Thomson on my roof. Does exactly the same thing as everything else, and much cheaper too.

It's got to be Renovo. There are loads of different ones out there but this is the only one that really does the job - keeps the water out and returns the colour. It's expensive but the only one I use for my classic hire cars.

Autoglym is ok as an everyday quick fix if you're about to face a downpour. Like this weekend maybe...
