Travelling from London Marylebone to London Piccadilly
Hi
Off to Queens theatre in London in a few weeks :j . Train takes me to Marylebone station, and looking at theatre website, nearest station is Piccadilly.
If anyone can help me I just want to know - is it fairly easy to get from one to the other? (don't want to get lost in the middle of London or end up going in the opposite direction!!) or am I better getting a taxi?
Does anyone know how much the train (tube) would cost (roughly) versus a taxi.
Thanks for any help. x

Yep, get the tube Bakerloo line takes you direct there from Marylebone, if you buy an Oyster it'll cost £5 but you'll need to queue up for a refund on the card or you'll need to buy a travel card as it's £4.something each way.
The tube takes 7 minutes but allow a good 20 for entrance to the station, waiting for the train, etc.
Taxi your looking at £10 minimum each way0 -
Thanks for your reply Keith. Can you tell me how an Oyster card woks please?
Thanks0 -
you'll need to buy a travel card as it's £4.something each way.
A Travel card isn't a one way ticket, it allows you to use the tube all day (in the relevant zones). Just buy a Travelcard for the relevant zones, not sure of the exact cost but probably be about £6.
Have a look at the TFL website

Erm thats what I said, you'll need to buy a travel card as it's very expensive at £4 each way.
Oyster works like this - You go to the ticket window and ask for one for each member of your party, there is a deposit of £3 per card, and then top it up with the minimum of £5. If you just do the return trip you have planned you'll have £2 left on the card + deposit which can be refunded (I believe at the ticket office). There are no forms to complete.
If you don't use Oyster, you face paying £4 each way or £5.30 for a travelcard. If you are just doing the return trip with Oyster it'll cost you £3 or a maximum of £4.80 offpeak or £6.30 if you travel in peak time.0 -
I can personally recommend Addisson Lee : http://www.addisonlee.com/
A good thing is the cars are always spotless, the drivers polite, and they text you when they are near, and when they have arrived.
I've checked for you and it costs £11.00 from the station to the theatre...
Have a good time! - You off to see Les Mis?0 -
And £11.00 back again at the end of the evening.parkemitch wrote: »<snip>

Your options include:
1. Getting the tube from Marylebone to Piccadilly Circus on the Bakerloo Line. Cost: £4 cash single or with oyster: £1.50 single
2. Using bus route 453 (Towards Deptford Bridge). I think this is a bendybus. Cost: £2 single or with Oyster:90p single . Note: If you are buying a bus ticket without oyster, you must buy it at the machine at the bus stop. You cannot pay the driver.
You can get an Oyster Card for a £3 refundable deposit. As you can see you will save £2.50 each time you use it on the Underground or £1.10 each time you use it on the bus. There is a cap on these cards so that it will work out the cheapest fare if you use it more than once on a given day. The main thing with these is you must touch the card at the start and end of your journeys.

On the tube, yes.
On the bus only once, when you get on.0 -
Yes. I am off to see Les Mis. Have seen it 3 times before. It's my favourite musical along with Miss Saigon.
Thanks for all your replies. I have booked the one day travelcard with my train tickets. It was the easiest option, as I won't have to queue up anywhere to buy once in London, it'll come with my train tickets, and is's cheaper than just buying tickets when there,
Thanks everyone. xx0
