Balace transfer

I am looking for the best balance transfer deal , all the recommended cards seem to have a 2% handling charge, are there any without this handling charge ?

I think Egg and Mint are good ones, and possibly Virgin (one of the MBNA cards). I say possibly because there is some confusion going on regarding if they apply their charge or not (its in their T&C's).

There are lots of cards out there with no BT fee. Halifax/Bank of Scotland "One " card, for instance - 0% for 9 months on BTs & purchases plus cashback. Details here.
  • How about the new HSBC Gold card? It seems to be the best idea to apply in-branch however [like I did] - posters on here who've applied on-line seem to have had problems. My card arrived in about 1 week!. Somebody elses's was even quicker!!

  • I built my business on balance transfers. The balance transfer offers change with credit card companies constantly. The offers are based on your credit. The best offers are found when you first open an account (if your credit is good).

The cards I like the best are citi bank, chase, mbna, optima, credit union cards, and wells fargo have good offers sometimes. You can always negotiate the transfer fee and the interest rate. You never know unless you ask.

The highest interest rate I am paying right now is 3.9% until the balance is paid with citi bank. Most of my cards are for 0% right now. I do not mind paying $35.00 to $50.00 for a balance transfer fee if the interest rate is really low and for at least 6 to 12 months.

Stay away from the offers that do not have a limit on the amount they can charge as a balance transfer fee.
