ADVISE NEEDED! Delayed and lost baggage by KLM

Hi There!
Please could someone help out! Recently I and my family (three of us) went on holiday to East Africa, flying with KLM and we had one connections at Amsterdam and stopped at Kilimanjaro Airport (this was not mentioned on our e-ticket). When we got to our final destination we were told that two of our baggage have been delayed and left behind until next day same time that we arrived. Next day when the baggage arrived, one of the bag was totally torn/cut and had items missing and we had documented all that then started all the formalities for compensation which didn't happen till the day we came back to UK. Then i had to contact the airline and just today they have came back to me demanding receipts for lost items and for any purchases made while our baggage being delayed, a copy of the Property Irregularity Report which I completed on arrival and the baggage tags given out at Heathrow after check inn! I cant find any of the requested items! How should explain or go around this? will that affect my right for compensation?

Also, about the damaged baggage, KLM wants me to provide full descriptions including proof of purchase, which i don't have as I bought the bag from the Market where i don't remember to be given a receipt!
