can i get 2 capital one cards??

hi i recently got a new capital one card for balance transfers now i need to get one for purchases and the best one around is the capital one platinum
i have an excellent credit rating so should have no problem there just didnt know if i can have 2 cards from capital one?!!
anyone help

yes, i have a classic and platinum card.

I have read from somewhere that you can't apply for another Cap 1 card if you already have one with them. Maybe this applies only to the high APR card?

It seems to vary. I once had 2 Capital One cards with no problem.

On another occasion I applied for the Balance Transfer Card when I already held another Capital One card and they rejected me on the basis that I was already a card holder.

I guess the original situation of having 2 cards could have somehow slipped under their radar.
