My husband was involved in a serious road accident in early September. We have MPPI with our mortgage provider (I know, could have got it cheaper but not got round to it yet) - my husband thinks that we can't claim as he is still receiving full pay from his employer and will do for 6 months. Is this correct?
And it has just occurred to me that we actually have 2 lots of MPPI cover in place at mo (haven't cancelled our MPPI which was in place before we remortgaged) - is it possible to claim from both insurances? I've checked through both policy booklets and can't see anything, but then again would guess most people wouldn't be silly enough to pay out 2 lots of MPPI!
As I've said above my dh is still on full pay but these MPPI payments would go a big way towards providing him with new transport or providing us with an income if he is off work for longer than 6 months.
Thanks.

different policies will have different rules
for example one popular policy states :
Subject to the policy exclusions, we will pay disability benefits if you are unable to work as a result of the disability you are claiming for and you are not receiving any form of payment other than your normal or statutory sick pay
in that case it appears he would be covered... but some might be different
Plus I believe there may be a (pro rota ?) reduction , if it is possible to claim from both providers, as you would be breaching above condition plus poss considered over insured ( most have benefit limit rule - for example max cover 50- 65% of income and 100-125% of mortgage payment )
