Prepaid Cards

These prepaid mastercards etc are popping up everywhere now, just seen an advert on tv. It said that you can get your wages put into it, and you can pay your bills from it so I assume you can set up a DD on it.

Technically, does this mean that there is no need to be with a bank anymore...

    You still need a proper bank for paying-in cash and loans which you *may* need etc. Those prepaid cards are only good as last resort for people who really cannot obtain a normal bank account in my opinion. I simply cannot justify paying charges to use my own money.
