draughty double glazing - help!

I have very draughty double-glazed windows and doors - basically they weren't fitted correctly.
You can see light through some of the gaps!

Does anyone know how to fill up these gaps? tried the rubber tape insluation stuff - it's not big enough!

All advice greatly received - starting to panic about the gas bills now...

    Part of the Furniture
Get whoever installed back to finish the job properly.
"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"
  • are the gaps mainly at the tops of opening lights and the tops of the doors in both instances were they meet the outer frame?
if you think peoples advice is helpfull please take the time to clicking the thank you button it gives great satisfaction
  • the gaps are where the doors meet the frames - they're not too bad at the bottom but as they go up the doors/frames seem to go a bit wonky so they don't meet up properly. Same for the windows but not quite as bad.

Unfortunatley, the double glazing was here before I was, so i have no idea who fitted it. I have a feeling the previous owner fitted them himself as he seemed to like a bit of buildng.
  • if you send me a pm i will give you my email you can then email picturesand i hopefully tell you how to sort them out

What about using the expanded foam stuff?
  • Is it possible to have window units resealed around the edges? I, too have very draughty ill fitting windows. These were fitted years ago before I moved here and I don't know who installed them . The frames seem to be warped and it is freezing in the winter!
Any help / advice would be appreciated
    Thank you

just use expanding foam and then trim it off.

sorry, just went back and re-read your previous posts.

if i understood you properly the gaps are were the window closes onto the frame. if it is that then it sounds a bit strange as the windows should have been manufactured so that the angles all meet up. if they dont meet up then it means the angles are not all right angles. or as an after thought maybe the hinges are damaged and the windo is not hanging right.

why dont you post some pics on here so we can see what you mean.
