Has anyone heard from the OU re funding?

Hello + good afternoon.

I've finally decided to unlurk myself on this forum after reading it for several weeks.

I applied to study with the OU and filled out forms for financial assistance which I duly sent off on the 8th July I followed this up with a phone call to see if they got it - all ok so far.

However, I haven't heard a dicky bird since despite e-mails and phone calls get me nowhere.

Just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat as me or is the wait a fairly common occurence.

Just thought I'd have had an answer after 4 weeks.
:o

BTW, I'm off to study (hopefully) DB123 and BU130

I had the forms back yesterday after 3 weeks saying I could have the funding
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.

They can sometimes take their time, however 4 weeks is probably as long as i've ever waited (5yrs with them)

    Give them another ring!!!

When is your course starting? They'll be dealing with students applying for courses starting in September first, so if your course has a later start date you may need to wait a while.
  • If you phone the financial assistance team (rather than the general enquiry team) and are very nice to them, it is possible for them to find out what date they're up to - ie they date they received the forms.

Plus, to agree with SWMBO, if your course starts after September your forms won't be processed until they've finished all the September ones.
  • Hi all,

    right bit of an update...

the OU were waiting to get the go ahead from the welsh assembly government (WAG) to process the forms, hence the delay.

But.... wait for it...... my forms had to be returned to me as I hadn't filled them in properly :o

They've now gone back but was a little tiny bit miffed that they waited over 4 weeks to let me now.

I've now gone to the back of the queue for funding. blah.

Hope I get the answer I'm waiting for!

  • Hiya

Bit of an update.. finally got my registration agreements back in the post and I secured a grant of £620 towards my 2 course fees so I have to pay £60 towards one of my courses.
