Switch-over question

Hey, sorry if this is the wrong place to ask but I'm currently switching my accounts from Nationwide to A&L and have opted for the 'Premier Switching Service' (to get £100). I've received a letter saying do not cancel any direct debits as this will effect the transferal.
I was wondering if anyone knew if adding a Direct Debit at this stage would mess things up too? Its a one-off direct debit into an ISA. I could wait untill everything is ready with A&L and do it there but I'm, frankly, impatient and want to do it right now from my old account!
