It shouldn't happen to a Travel Agent (!!!)

Thought this might amuse some of you....but it does pose some interesting questions-am currently fighting this with the help of Frank from holidaytravelwatch!

This June I found a great flight from East Midlands to Rhodes-leaving on a Saturday am at 0700 return landing at 0200 the following Sunday-giving in effect nearly 8 clear days.

The flights were with Kosmar but could only be taken as a package (they don't do flight only), so I booked the cheapest s/c apartment I could & informed the reps on arrival I would not need the accommodation & told them where I'd be staying (if you don't tell them they think you're a 'no-show' & can sell your inbound seats!!!).

2 days prior to departure the Hotel Reception called Kosmar's office to re-confirm the flight times-no change.

Got to the Airport & the flight had left 10 hours earlier ??!!! To cut a long story short I eventually got a flight back to Gatwick (had to run to the aircraft-like you see on airline!) & then national express back to East Midlands!

Kosmar reps were having none of it-said as I didn't take the accom not their responsibility, etc....the rub was I had to buy new tickets from THEM!!!

Also, I had a mild cold & before setting off for the airport i'd nearly lost my voice....well it was well & truly GONE by the time I'd run around the Airport like a mad thing....(!!!)

So...over £300 down-off work for 2 weeks with no voice...the battle goes on!!! Will post the outcome as soon as I know.

PLEASE no laughing.....(!!!)

PS-The airline-Air Scandic-has now gone bust!

Dont supprise me with Kosmar anything is possible, We had one of the worst rooms ever and only stayed in it about 20 minutes I couldnt even bring myself to use the loo (and I was bursting ...I know to much info :) ) We draged our bags and went on the hunt for a decent room not willing to spoil a well needed holiday and luckily we found the Boat House in Kamari and had a very relaxing holiday.
Wouldnt touch that company again with someone elses money
If you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel
  • The rub was, though savapenny it was KOSMAR who I had to buy the return tkts off!!!

having been a rep I know there's no point kicking off as they're you're only hope of a flight back.

I've taken legal advice & it seems that their answer 'we don't do flight only & we don't have the facility to look for customers who do not take our accommodation' does not wash as in the booking conditions there is no mention of these circumstances.

I've asked them to find the exact extract in the booking conditions that explains that if I don't take their accom. the reps wash their hands of me (obviously there is no section to cover this!) & also drawn their attention to the package holiday regulations that state it's their responsibility to help their guests if one of their suppliers has a problem.

Depending on their reply with either take it to arbitration or small claims court. Suppose it'll be a test case as technically this was a package deal with them!

Upshot was I was well out of pocket & lost my voice/was ill for quite some time in July-our busy time!

It just goes to show that if they cant treat the people who sell thier holidays that way what hope does Joe Blogs have.
Hope you get somewhere with them

  • !!! I know....BUT it will be intersting if it does go to court as Kosmar have made no provision for this in their booking conditions.

Savapenny-don't suppose you know when Ryanair are launching Summer 2006 for GRO & REU-there used to be a way of registering on thier site but can't find it?
