Exchanged on new flat today - looking for good quality cheap carpets for bedrooms.

Anyone got any recommendations?

Is carpet right as good as any?

Any particularly good sales on anywhere?

Pound-saving help appreciated!

Go to a local independent trader they can be cheaper than many of the chains who tend to rip you off with extras and fitting

If you go on capetrights web site there is discount vochers to down load.
    but independants are better.
Spending my time reading how to fix PC's,instead of looking at Facebook.

Da Murphster - where are you based? I work in the flooring industry (not a retailer dont worry!)

I would agree with "savemoney" dont visit a "shed" (i.e. Carpet Right, United Carpets etc) as the headline price will look cheap, £4.99 pm2, but fitting will be expensive and all the accessories like underlay and gripper will be a omplete rip off.

    Visit an independent.

Based in Reading - looked at a few today - choice is overwhelming!!

Will try an independent later this week.

    If self fitting not recommended?

Not unless you've done it before! Its a real art, not like fitting a laminate or wood floor at all. Bentalls, on the high street in Bracknell are a decent shop.

Or try upmystreet.co.uk for a list of independent retailers.

You could try a local carpet fitter who is able to source carpet - ask around friends, family and work colleagues to see if anyone has a contact.

I'm getting new carpets in two bedrooms and my stairs and landing. Carpet Right quoted me circa £870 inc underlay and fitting, a local independent carpet shop quoted £700 and then my mum gave me the number of a guy who had supplied and fitted carpets for one of her work colleagues. He came round at weekend and quoted £400!!!!

All quotes were on broadly equivalent quality carpet.
