I have just installed AVG8.0 (free version) but it says that the resident shield is not active. I am not a techie so any advice on how to activate it will be greatly appreciated.

The resident shield should start at boot up if installed correctly. Have you tried a reboot?:doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
When you open up AVG8 you will see all the functions as icons. Ond of them is Resident Shield and underneath that is a little box with active written at the side. Make sure that box is ticked.
Otherwise click on Help, index and put Resident shield in the search box. That will give you all the info you need.I'm Glad to be here... At my age I'm glad to be anywhere!!
