My sons made a video using images off their mobile phones, added some music and put it on youtube, moments later I got an email containing:
UMG has claimed some or all of the audio content in your video WWE figures stop motion triple threat match WFB. This claim was made as part of the YouTube Content Identification programme.
Your video is still live because UMG has authorised the use of this content on YouTube. As long as UMG has a claim on your video, they will receive public statistics about your video, such as number of views. Viewers may also see advertising on your video's page.
Claim Details:
Copyright owner:
UMG
Content claimed:
Some or all of the audio content
Policy:
Allow this content to remain on YouTube.

UMG claimed this content as a part of the YouTube Content Identification programme. YouTube allows partners to review YouTube videos for content to which they own the rights. Partners may use our automated video/audio matching system to identify their content, or they may manually review videos.
If you believe that this claim was made in error, or that you are otherwise authorised to use the content at issue, you can dispute this claim with UMG and view other options in the Video-ID Matches section of your YouTube account. Please note that YouTube does not mediate copyright disputes between content owners. Learn more about video-identification disputes.
I panicked and told them to take the video off which they did, after rereading the email I am not sure if it was a problem or not, anyone else encountered this?

It isn't a problem. It's just something Youtube have to do to pacify the money grubbing MPAA and RIAA in the USA.0

Universal Media Group. Considering they're one of the largest record conglomerates it's quite likely they do own the rights."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

When I was younger it was all the rage to have a double cassette player, we used to copy borrowed tapes, and that was it, seemed the done thing, now if you mention copying a DVD people jump down your throat, and call you a pirate, or like on Youtube now the big boys issue you with a writ, aint the modern world great, everybody is watching you when money is involved. There are 10 types of people in the world; those who understand binary and those who don't...0

To be fair UMG didn't issue anyone with a writ here, they simply asserted that they owned the copyright for some of the music used in the video, which is fair enough.0

and yet blank cd's. dvd's etc are still on sale.. how come all music phones and the like arent coded as per itunes?Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..

I imagine there are some phones that can play music with DRM.
DRM is a total waste of time anyway. The only people it affects are those who legitimately purchase the item in question. It doesn't affect those who pirate things, or those who download pirated things.
It just ensures that those who buy legitimately get screwed, which is supposed to decrease the amount of piracy somehow.

You should have kept it on there, all that would have happened is half the advertising revenue goes to UMG.0
