Hi,
In answer to the one question you raised about living together, in no way should your credit rating be affected by your partner being bankrupt. My wife had to declare herself bankrupt earlier this year and my rating has not been affected at all. Egg tried to by posting a default on my rating by claiming that as we had a joint mortgage that I was responsible. However a threat of the Consumer Credit Act sorted that one out.
