Hi all!
A friend of mine has just kicked her man out following a string of affairs. I'm meeting her on Saturday for a full day of talking about it. I'd like to take her a box of treats just to let her know I'm on her side and a shoulder to cry on - nothing too expensive, just small things. So far I've thought of:
Pretty hankies
Pampering smellies
Chocolate (obviously!)
Dog treats (not a comment on the husband, she just adores her dog!)
Any further suggestions from the collective wisdom of this board?
Thanks,
ScotTot

A pretty flowering plant? Doesn't have to be expensive, it could be from your/someone elses garden. I alkways cheer up considerably when I see a pretty plant, and she can put it on a windowsill and enjoy it for ages.
What a nice friend you are!

How about a cheap DVD of a light comedy movie? None spring to mind at the moment
- sorry. But someone will be along soon with a suggestion.
ETA: Maybe "Shirley Valentine". Strong lady ditches no-mark husband and has a wonderful future ahead of her. It's £5.99 on Play.com at the moment, but it can't be delivered by tomorrow. It just gives you some idea of price.
You cannot live as I have lived an not end up like me.
Oi you lot - please

Following PWs suggestion, Tesco and Asda usually have cheap DVDs - Tesco had masses of DVDs for £3 the other week. Another idea might be an early box set of a tv series your friend likes - Tesco had these too.
Our The Works and cheapie bookshops have these little box kits in for about £2 (the type they sell for £8 in Waterstones!). I got an aromatherapy kit with lavander lightbulb ring for a friend lately.
Teabags / coffee and nice biscuits?
Magazine?
Sachets of face masks / hair treatments?
There might be some ideas in the basket threads on the Special Occasions board

I love Shirley Valentine! It sounds perfect for the hamper, too. It'll most likely be in asda or somewhere I'm always seeing them in supermarkets. Or a series of Sex and the City if you have it? I'd say the first series as it's more ladies doing it for themselves, the later series are more relationships ect.
Of course, lots of chocolate! Asda has the bigger dairy milk bars for £1 each. Some icecream? When my sister broke up with her boyfriend afew years back she drowned her sorrows in endless ben and jerrys.0 -
Thanks for the great ideas, everyone!
Going to have a busy lunchtime shopping!
