Dodgy Mouse

Hi

I'm hoping that some knowledgable person will be able to help me with what, I hope, should be an easy problem.

My mouse keeps freezing on me. It happens about 30 secs to 5 mins after I've powered up the computer - everything else works fine and I can navigate by keyboard. It's a Technika Optical TKOPTM2, used it for about 6m with no problems. I've tried unplugging and replugging it.

Help please!

it is a standard 3 button usb mouse.... a well known brand too (?!)

are you sure you're not using it on a dodgy surface, have you tried using it with / without a mouse mat...

is it clean, all the plastic little bits on the bottom, ain't clogged with dirt, thus making the mouse "taller" than it should be, and then the optics can't hit the surface you're on..

failing that.. spend another £5 and get a new one.... not gonna break the bank really is it?

If its just the mouse freezing, it could be software related.
Does it emit a red glow when its frozen?
I would just borrow another mouse to check out if its software or hardware first (or buy one as they can be bought for a couple of pounds and its good to have a spare).
