DooYoo - Get Paid to Write Reviews Online

Well I have had a particularly good day from Dooyoo today - not only have I received my first cheque from them, but I also got 2 crowns :j0

I have to say that I think that's a bit extreme, although it's obviously your own personal opinion! I wouldn't consider anybody writing reviews on Dooyoo to be 'greedy, money-grabbing scum'! Anybody considering joining Dooyoo would probably think twice after reading that - expecting to be criticised and abused by established members for trying to earn a bit extra on the net! That is why most of us are here this site in the first place, after all.
I don't think everyone on Dooyoo is money grabbing scum, but there are people on there who are and to be perfectly honest, if people do think twice about joining, then I think that's a good thing! I don't want money grabbers on Dooyoo. I want people on Dooyoo who enjoy the writing and will rate honestly with the target of good, accurate consumer-based information in mind, not with the idea that if they give out another VU rate that someone will come back and give them a read in return. The money is a bonus for that. Those that write for money tend not to add to the site/community IMO, though I do appreciate there are some exceptions. From my point of view, so long as somebody is also rating other people's work, I can't see why they can't write as many (good quality) reviews as they have the spare time for. If Dooyoo wanted to restrict numbers of reviews, they could quite easily introduce a maximum number of reviews allowed by each member per day.(And no - I don't churn! I write on average, 2 or 3 reviews a week but would write more if I had more free time. I also always return rates as well as reading reviews that genuinely interest me.)
As long as you're putting time, effort and thought into your reviews and returning rates, then most people will treat you and your reviews positively and you'll earn a little bonus, as well as enjoying yourself. :T
Again, we go back to the problem of there being two points of view around Dooyoo; the official line and that of the community. Dooyoo wants content, preferably decent content, but content nonetheless. The core community wants Dooyoo to be a good consumer resource which means good content and a peer review system that has integrity. Often, these two points of view are at loggerheads. Why do Dooyoo delete tevenge raters, for example, but never go near over-raters? They do equal damage to the system, IMO.
My own personal opinion is that you can post what you like as long as you're giving back more reads/rates than you're given, and that's true even if you only post one review per month. I don't necessarily agree with this concept of reading back to those that read you... just read back to the site in general, reading the stuff that interests you and everything will still balance out.0 -

Why not post there, anyway? Is it purely because you don't get the fifty pee?
Because I have done around 15 reviews there in the last month, covered most of the topics I have an interest in, some in great depth, but I would like to earn a little money too, so I think I need to do some reviews elsewhere for a while. I tend to write more there as I do not use many products, don't buy packaged food much and so on, so it's down to writing about hosuehold items which I feel often other people have written a better review on than I can do being quite technologically backward!
Also I read that someone got their account blocked for only posting on speakers corner and pets which does concern me. Only get points for the clicks and crowns there I guess, but still adds up. I've averaged around 40p per review there I think in people reading mine and rating them, although I do try to read as many as read me. If I rate the products they actually want me to rate surely this is better for the site.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

You cannot get your account blocked for writing in Speakers Corner. There will be another reason they have been blocked.0 -
Just to reassure people, dooyoo has been voted online shopping website of the year 2008 so any fears that dooyoo cannot pay out should be dispelled as the site has never had a higher profile.
Initial fears that dooyoo could not financially support the new payment structure are clearly unfounded.0 -
I have been using dooyoo for a few months now (3 month) I have been writting reviews and rating. I have withdrawn a cheque for £50, £20 in vouchers and i am up to £30 going for another voucher!
I love the community and although i got it all wrong when i started people gave me a second chance and i learnt how it worked! When i first joined i wrote 8 reviews all short and pretty rubbish then chicked on a load of people and clicked some rating without reading them thinking quick cash!! boy was i wrong one waring later i read and rated some review on how dooyoo workes etc it really helped!

I notice that a few people here (and I really do mean a few - I am in no way implying that everyone - or even most people - it is, I'm sure, just a few- on here falls into this category) seem to think that you should be able to get something for nothing - that you should get paid without putting any effort into Dooyoo. Why?
Dooyoo wants (needs) to make money. It does this by providing a service that advertisers feel is worthwhile. Dooyoo will only be self sustaining (and thus able to pay out) if the people who are paid actually put a modicum of effort into what they do. After all, this is about earning money from Dooyoo - not just receiving handouts.
Dooyoo is a site where we write reviews. This should mean:
- Proofreading. Spelling, grammar and paragraph spacing are all your friend. 'I' is capitalised. Text speak is not prose.
- Research. I'm not talking about a PhD, simply making sure the information you provide is accurate and timely - this, for me, is especially true with the category I guide (health).
- Opinion. Having highlighted research, that's not the end all and be all, indeed, nor is it really actually the point of dooyoo. What do you think of the product being reviewed? Did the tablets/toothpaste/treatement work for you? Did you like the album (especially compared to other albums in the same genre or by the same artist)? How did that movie/TV show make you feel?
Anyway, that's my tuppenth. I realise that most folk here (and many on dooyoo) simply want to make a few pence, have some fun, and maybe even help a few people out. It is worth noting that per review, thoughtful reviews with oodles of opinion will earn more per review than 200 word quickies, and will often continue to earn (admittedly pennies) long after the review was written.
Cheers.

I totally agree
I must admit I've been using Dooyoo less (for reviewing and for looking up a product I may want to buy) because there are so many rubbish reviews at the moment. There are some great reviews still, and you get to know the names of the people who write decent reviews, but what's with the churning!

I thought this might be worth posting, from dooyoo's FAQs - it's VERY clear as to what constitutes abuse (besides plagiarism)

13. I am a very sneaky person... What should I know about dooyoo so I don't get banned for doing something dishonest?
If you read our Terms & Conditions, you'll notice that we can block your dooyoo account for anything we suspect is against dooyoo policy. Generally our members are great, but we do sometimes have problems, particularly with dishonest generation of dooyooMiles. There are several situations that will cause dooyoo to block your account for dishonest generation of dooyooMiles.
The first is what we call a 'clicking cartel', where many accounts work quickly to generate dooyooMiles for one member, or each other. It's not a bad thing, of course, to read all the reviews of your favourite dooyoo authors, but over the years there have been some rather complicated schemes along those lines. All we can say is don't plot with your friends to rapidly rate each other's reviews - it isn't the purpose of dooyoo and it doesn't work.
Also please don't create multiple accounts. dooyoo can identify when a user has multiple accounts and it isn't allowed, especially not when you use one account to generate dooyooMiles for the others!
Sneaky reviews that just scrape in over our premium review limit (150 words) but do not contain 150 words of genuine consumer review, instead being padded with lists, repetitions, or other non-relevant material are also counted as abuse. We probably shouldn't have to be specific but just in case; for a recipe or food review, for example, a list of ingredients is fine but only if there are at least 150 words of genuine review. Similarly, repeated sentences (or whole paragraphs!), using punctuation to reach the minimum word limit, or some other kind of 'word limit fraud' is considered abuse.
Last but not least is 'rapid clicking'. This is when you click as fast as you can through a friend's reviews to generate dooyooMiles for them. While everyone sometimes clicks through a review quickly if it wasn't what you were looking for, if it becomes a trend (and you do it many times in a row) your activity officially becomes dooyoo abuse.
If you have any questions or concerns about what is or isn't abuse, contact the dooyooTeam and we'll clear things up.

I'm currently a Dooyoo stranger because I have writer's block, and therefore don't feel I can write a decent review that anyone would find useful. I have no intentions of returning until I can write coherently and usefully again.
And I realise I'm a terrible, terrible grammar pedant, but I'm fully aware that those rules have to be learned (I'm less tolerant of bad spelling, but the day I take grammar tips from Bill Gates will be a chilly one in Hell...) - I'm considerably more tolerant of wrong uses of there, their and they're, and your and you're than I am of txt spk (ugh), and lazy capitalisation.
And whilst I can forgive a lack of commas, I've read a lot of reviews recently with no full stops...what is that all about?£5 a day in December £179.59/£155£100 on STP by 31 January 09 £2.03/£1000
