1st credit card

Hey,
I am interested in getting my hands on a credit card, I havnt previously
had one, but im pretty sure keeping on top of what i spend on it won't
be a problem.. and i will only use it in cases where a credit card is needed
etc. The problem is, i have only been employed for two months now
and im not sure if i will have my application accepted, plus im worried that
if i do apply and get rejected that it will look bad on my credit rating??
I quite like the look of the benefits of the Virgin card, is there anything i
should know about this card in particular?
Any help or advice would be very helpful.. Thanks!

If this would be your first credit card, you have a limited credit history, so from the lender's perspective you're something of an unknown quantity. The fact that you've only been employed for two months also works against you. You probably need to be more concerned about actually getting a credit card, rather than trying to select a market-leading one.

Lenders launch these 0% on BT promotions, which are sometimes heavily advertised, to draw in new customers. Often they are flooded with applications and can afford to cherry-pick applicants.

Presumably you have a bank account and you're registered on the electoral roll. Your own bank may be the best place to start ;)

  • Ah rite ok thanks. Il go into the bank and see what they say.
Providing i keep up to date on all the repayments if i do get
a card from the bank, when can i start thinking about getting
    the card i want?

You should find it easier to get the particular cards and credit limits you want, once you have operated this and at least one other credit card for a bit ;)
