I bought a Sony CD car stereo from this lot a few months ago. They were 20 quid more than Halfords (149 pounds) AND charged me 20 quid for fitting(previous owner of my car had ballsed up the wiring so couldn't be helped). Total:169 pound.I initially pointed out a JVC unit but the manager seemed intent on me buying the Sony (commission???)I am a bit annoyed about the price still....and did feel the hard sell when I was in there I must admit but your experience is not good at all and I would say it was misrepresentation.
Not only has the store lied about the guarantee but also the salesperson has lied over and over to goad you into making a purchase which is totally unfair.I would get in touch with Sony again stating everything you have told us here.I don't have anymore advice I'm afraid.I just think the whole thing is wrong and if I were Sony I'd be very annoyed that this had happened in one of their shops.(franchise or not it's still their good name and reputation the shop is representing) Also the managers attitude needs to be addressed, very unhelpful...rubbing his hands together because of the commission/profit (don't know how franchises work sorry ) he's made.0 -
It is always annoying to find something cheaper after you've already paid for yours. To be honest though at the point where he was saying negative things about the John Lewis guarantee I'd have gone away and investigated rather than just taking his word for it. Certain unscrupulous sales people always try to put down the competition and I NEVER take their word for it.
In your situation I'd just unpack that TV and get watching it. Sony stuff is excellent in my opinion. Just learn from it and move on. No sales person will ever do that to you again. Just do a bit of research on the 'net about the model/price you're looking for and go into the store armed with information that will make it less likely that you'll get ripped off.
A long battle with an unscrupulous manager will just spoil your summer.Don't grow up. Its a trap!
Peace, love and labradors!0
