you then expect your LA/LL to advertise a flat without a date on which it will be empty - will it be 1st or 31st of Sept ?

    I'm guessing not 31st ;)

    picky-pants !
  • Did you mum actually find out the details of the place for £550? maybe they have just put the rent up, they did that when we left a flat many years ago.
  • I agree with Clutton - you have a legally binding contract and its you that wants to leave early. Thats not the LL or agents fault - yes they should start remarketing but you are legally liable for the term of the rent or until the other party of the contract releases you - ie the day before a new tenant signs. Please be aware that just leaving the property does not release you from the tenancy agreement - you will still be responsible for its security and the utlilities until it is formally surrendered. Best advice - go in and chat with the agent - dont have a hissy fit - its you in the wrong not the LL or agent - and any agent wont help a "shouty" person. Tlak to them - ask them how they are doing etc. Also you will have your LL's address - its has to be provided and its normally on your tenancy agreement - write a nice letter to the LL telling them you are concerned and you know they dont have to let you go but thank them anyway - getting on the right side of someone in a dispute or argument is key to mutually agreeing something. Play nice.
