Basicly i think my computer is on its way out but i want it to last untill christmas as my fiance says he will buy me a laptop but i need this to keep going till then, the problems with the internet, its verrrrrry slow, like takes 5 minutes per page to load up,then it will crash and wont let me take internet exporer off, even through task manager,so i have to turn pc off, then the pc wont come on but if you leave it 30 minutes it will turn on

im really confused,it happened other day and i pressed send error report which told me i had a problem with windows which they didnt have a remedy for and needed an update,so i updated,i havent been doing this as i forget:eek: so it took about 4 hours to update then it said i had to restart and do another update which i did and still nothing is different, all scans say no virus
if it helps its a phillips pc and i have windows xp and sky broadband and kaspersky antivirus/firewall.
does anyone know what it could be?
and how to fix it or find out?
thanks

have you rebuilt the PC back to factory settings.. cleaned it up like it was brand new??
that is my first instinct with any PC that is going slow....

download and run this
http://www.download.com/TuneUp-Utilities-2008/3000-2094_4-10206416.html
it's a fully working 30 day trial , run "1-click" a copule of times once it has installed
it will remove loads of junk and fix any invalid registry entriesEx forum ambassador

do you have the CDs that came with the PC? (ideally, there should be a windows CD)
if the tuneup above doesnt do much, then back up any important stuff off the pc (my docs, emails, etc) and insert the cd. reboot and follow the instructions to reinstall windows.
itll take a few hours to get back up and running (youll need to reinstall all of your software), but should speed things up somewhat.
most people who complain their PC is slow and want a new one... theres nothing wrong with the PC. its just that windows is so crudded up with spyware/junk that it has become unusable.0 -
unfortunatly the pc didnt come with a disc so i dont have one,so i cant do that
im going to have a look at the link now thanks0 -
just having a read, before i download how do i just get the free trial version so i dont have to pay?
will i just uninstall before the 30 days is up?0 -
just download and install and it starts the 30 days trial
when the 30 days you can remove it , the PC stays "fixed"Ex forum ambassador
