At a guess they probably didn't like something you put on the forms.

How do you know that they didn't check your CRA reports ? Have you looked at them since or are you assuming they haven't because you got an instant decision ? They can do online real-time enquiries to Experian which are then analysed automatically by the application processing software to give an instant credit decision you know.

I've been turned down before, when I had absolutely no borrowing of any description (and of course a very good credit history).

Applying doesn't mean you will get what you are after.

If I want any lessons in how lenders decide who they wish to do business with, I certainly know of one person I won't be asking!
  • Check if you are on the electoral role.
  • I checked both my reports 2 hours after I got declined by Mint and 3 days after I got declined by MBNA, no searches from them whatsoever.

i think it's the electoral roll. I am not European, though I have permanent residency.

Are you sure you gave them the EXACT correct address- even one letter out of place would mean they were looking at an address they could not connect to you.

  • I'll check my experian now. Thanks

if you do a credit card application, and you get trned down, the search wont show for up to a month after!
