Hi,
My car is a 56 plate and ive just had my car tax papers through, can someone tell me when i need to put it through its 1st MOT

Only next year at the earliest, but check the V5 for registration date and, as stated above, add 3years

But submit it one month early, then if it fails you might get a warranty repair, and your MOT will still run from the same 3 year anniversary date. You should not need your V5 to qualify for early testing, but it would be a good idea to take it anyway.0
