Gas and Electric price tables

Hey all,

I've done a quick search of the forums but can't seem to find what im looking for. I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a site that just has a list of gas and electric suppliers and the unit prices they charge? I know you can use these price comparison sites but im not sure exactly how much I use so don't tend to get an accurate result from them and they tend to just say how much you can save, not what the unit prices were.

The reason I asked is I've changed to a price protection plan with e-on but im not sure if I'm getting the best deal out there or not.

Thanks

There's about 14 or 15 different regions and half a dozen or more suppliers. Electricity and gas in some cases is charged differently in each region and differently by each supplier. Take into account standing charges, primary and secondary units, discounts for payment methods and different products that each supplier charges would make it a hard long list to update and use. I guess the price comparison sites makes it easier for people to use?

Like you Galaxy, I'd like a table. I wouldn't mind if it showed a range for each supplier to cover their different regional rates, just so long as I could get a rough idea on whether the comparison quotes are accurate.

Just posted a query re eon price protection 17 elsewhere as the actual bill I would pay is, according to my calculations, either 16% or 25% higher than the quote I received from their website....
  • Energy watch website. They publish price comparison sheets for each area of the country.

I don't think there is any such site.

There are literally hundreds of variable factors - confusion marketing! like mobile phone tariffs.

12 regions all with different prices for electricity and some for gas.

    XX different companies

    Each company has several tariffs.

Tier 1 allocations vary, and some have a daily charge, some have a flat rate, and don't even talk about NPower's system.

Different prices for different payment methods

Discounts for dual fuel, staying 12 months, etc.

    What a strange post!!

The OP wanted "a list of gas and electric suppliers and the unit prices they charge"

    The energywatch website states:
Please note: our Map uses only simple calculations to show the average prices based on the information you enter. These factsheets do not display the KWh unit rates as there are far too many variable options for each available tariff.

Yeh, I would like to see such a web site. However I can understand when people say that the whole system if far too complex. What I think would be possible though, is for the comparison sites to extend the data that they show us (perhaps as an option) to show the tariff prices per KWh that they have used to get their results.

A common web-site for Gas & Electicity prices too complicated? Rubbish - it would only be made up of the pages that most of the power companies already show on their own sites.
It's great idea and would solve the problem of EON being shy about their tariffs, and better yet, let's have it on Ofgems web-site so they will actually know what's going. on
