Still waiting for my PIN number

Options
Hi there,

I’m slightly frustrated and close to tears. Sorry for the long email, but pls bear with me.

A random bank swallowed my Natwest debit card 5 weeks ago due to a power surge in an underground station. It took 3 weeks to get my card sent to me and now it's been another two weeks that I have been chasing for my PIN number.

I initially reported it lost and asked that a new card be sent to my home address. A week later when I rang to say that i hadn't received it, I was told by Natwest that it had been returned to my account branch as there was an error on their systems about my address and that I would need to go into a branch to update my details (even though there was nothing to update, I was still at the same address on their systems)

I then asked that my card be sent to my local branch near where I work and that i would collect it the following week. I was assured that it would be there within the week. It wasn’t. The following week, still no card, I then demanded that it be couriered to my local branch, I even gave them the number of a local courier company to arrange this. I had to wait around the area for 5 hrs on my day off. When it did arrive it was minus a PIN number, understandably. I was then assured that this would be at the branch the following monday. It wasn’t. I waited another week. A customer service rep informed me that it hadn’t actually been ordered, and so they put a request in for one. Two weeks later I’m still without and close to screaming.

Throughout this ordeal I have been the one making numerous telephone calls to Natwest. Most of the time I’ve been put through to support teams where they just take a mssg and 3hrs later I might get a call from my local branch telling me that they haven’t got the information I’m looking for, in my case, my card or my PIN number.

Two weeks ago I was sent a bottle of red wine, neatly packaged and dispatched from their customer services warehouse which probably dispatches bottles by the dozen every 10minutes and a mere £10 compensation for my phone calls. This upset me.

I have managed to remain somewhat calm throughout this, because I know screaming obscenities would not be in my favour. I am unable to access my cash unless I go into a branch where I have to queue for 20mins, with my passport, where I feel guilty faking my own signature as it’s nearly 10yrs old . I feel completely vulnerable and violated. I feel that I’m owed something from Natwest. Does anyone know how far I should take this? I’m thinking of bigger bucks than a friendly tenner (which was sneaked into my bank account). I know I can move to First Direct and be given a gift of £50. I don’t really want to have to change my account as it would probably be a lot of hassle with my direct debits, but it would give me so much satisfaction in doing so.

Sorry for the rant, any advice would be so much appreciated.

hey, did you try to use the new card in the ATM using the same PW as previously? cause my nationwide debit card was eaten on Sat, then called them on Sun, and I received my new card on Wed. Quick! And they told me I could use the old PIN. And it is! Try it once, no harm!
