Cannot obtain Contents Insurance for people I support

Hello all, have been trying for a while now to obtain some contents insuarance for some people whom I support as Team Leader at the house where they live. They have their own tenancy with a Housing association and we as staff provide the support they need to live their lives.
But when I explain the situation to insurers, there are only a few that even consider shared accommodation, and then even they drop the case as soon as they find out about other circumstances, such as specific valuables, emergency access to rooms, and some the age of the house itself I believe.
Is there anyone else out there in the social care sector that has come across similar difficulties and could throw me a rope? I seriously can't believe there is nothing out there that the people I support can use ... they have the money to pay for a policy, have just the same needs as anyone else to protect their property, but are excluded.
This, like many other things I encounter in my work frustrates me because there is a huge group of people in the country today (I am talking here about those who have a learning disability), who want to have access to goods and services, are willing to pay for them, but few companys seem to realise they exist – doesn't it occur to them the revenue they are missing out on? ok, ok rant over ^^.
So yes any help or pointers would be really appreciated.

Hi Matthevv,
Have you tried the Housing Association? I believe that some associations can arrange good deals for tenants. After all the association will be a big insurance customer (for the buildings cover).
Hope you can get it sorted.0 -
