I am taking Setanta Sports to the small claims court!

Just a note of support for Farnsey and anyone else who takes this lot on. Their customer service and underhand ways are appalling and deserve exposure in any way possible. I suggest people should also write to the FA Premier League as well, to voice disapproval of their selling rights to them.
Because they will sit up and take notice of that, won't they?0 -
bijgouder - thank you! It might be a scenario similar to that of David & Goliath but it's nice to know that you can get support and valuable advice when taking these people on!
Tozer - isn't that just the kind of 'roll over' attitude that Setanta expect us to take, more accurately, hope that we will take? Why should they be allowed to keep my money? OK, it might only be about £80, but that's my money. If you could afford to write that off in the current climate then you are very lucky indeed............0 -

I never adopt a roll-over attitude and I'm all for litigating where necessary. My point is that writing to the FA about selling rights to a company which you are suing in the small claims court is unlikely to actually create much interest.0 -

Firstly, I wasn't the one who suggested contacting the FA re Setanta, I was simply thanking someone for their support and suggestions and referred to filiing a court claim in my response to you, not about writing to the FA. Secondly, if I did choose to take that course of action, they may not take notice, but if nobody EVER spoke out about these companies, then they will never have to be accountable for their actions.
I've gone through the thread and can't see that you actually have anything constructive to say. I've come across forum users like you before - I recently got married and used a wedding magazine forum and came across like minded folk such as yourself who have nothing better to do than make useless comments on other people's threads, and I also acted as a moderator for two years on a babyloss forum, again, bored individuals came and went.0 -
Tried to watch the Falkirk v Rangers game on Saturday and my MIL came round yesterday to watch the Celtic game. It was useless - the picture was pixelating, resulting in complete loss for over twenty minutes. Setanta was the only channel it was happening with and after contacting Sky we ascertained there was no problem their end.
Tried to get through to Setanta on Saturday and they were closed to customer service calls all weekend, helpfully informing customers to call back from 9am Monday morning. Finally managed to get through this morning at 11am to be told my signal had been weakened. If I were a cynical person I might think my account had been tampered with............?!?!?!:rolleyes:0 -

Firstly, try and calm yourself down a bit. I think you are getting yourself ever so slightly excited.
I've not said that it was you who said to contact the FA. I don't think you should do that particularly as you are intending to start court proceedings which is the forum for dispute resolution. Neither the Court nor the FA would be in the slightest bit impressed. But you've not said you are goign to do that so I don't think there is an issue, do you?
Have a look at my other posts, and I think you will see that I do try to offer assistance - particularly in legal issues as that is my profession. Congratulations on getting married by the way. I'm 6 weeks away from doing the same.0 -

I do know that it would not be the best move in the world to start shouting about Setanta whilst raising a claim in court, however, at the moment they seem to be getting away with keeping money that clearly does not belong to them.
Good luck for your forthcoming nuptials - it's a wonderful day, with all sorts of emotions. It whirls by so savour every moment, and a nice touch, which is what we both did, is escaped on our own to a quiet spot of the hotel grounds with a bottle of champagne, the guests kept at bay by watchful best man and chief bridesmaid.
I'm sorry to have come across so defensive - this issue is, as you can imagine, extremely frustrating.

Completely understand. You have to go a bit careful these days as the Court considers the parties' conduct in dealing with cases. As such, I would never advise any bad-mouthing - at least for so long as the case is live.
Thanks for the advice on the big day!0
