Connecting PC- PS3.
I have a BT Voyager 210 ADSL Router connected at the moment via the Ethernet cable. What I want to do ( not confident) is to connect to the PC with a USB cable , and use the only Ethernet port on the router to connect to my PS3, that would seem qute straightforward to you, but I am an old skool lady, learning about this technology, so please , use layman terms.
Would that connection be ok? When I am finished using the connection for internet purposes will it be correct to just unplug the Ethernet cable from the router& PS3 until needed again?
I have finally succeeded to connect HDMI cable and now PS3 is up and running!

You could use something like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-Ethernet-Adapter-Patch-Cable/dp/B0002AFKN0 the usb end plugs into your pc and the ethernet from router into the other end of the belkin adapter, do you need to have the pc and ps3 in use at the same time as if you dont then you could just connect the ps3 to the router,No Links in Signature by site rules - MSE Forum Team 20

Thats still going to use up the ethernet port on his modem!
You just need a simple switch. Plug the modem into the back of there, and it gives you 4 ethernet ports. Kinda like a USB hub, but for ethernet. Then you can have the PC and PS3 both connected at the same time.

it would be much easier to get a router like this one and get rid of the modem altogether as the router has an inbuilt modem and 4 port switch. you could use the ps3 wirelessly and just have the computer hooked up via ethernet like i do with my dg834g or just have them both connected via ethernet0 -

I do have a ADSL router with one ethernet port.
? Do I need to have the PC switched on during this connection? So you are saying I can bypass the router and connect straight from the PC to PS3?You live..You learn.:)0 -
you can plug the ethernet cable directly into the ps3 and you will not need the pc to be switched on while you use the ps3 online
my bad about the router, i hadnt really read the thread properly0
