MUST BUY 3.99 Fire Blanket at Lloyds

Lloyds pharmacy are selling fire blankets (the ones you use over things like chip pan fires) for only 3.99 GBP (in store).

Every home should have one, and they are certainly a bargain at this price.

Official Note:

Even if it's not this one, a fire blanket is a must-have in all households. A firefighter has posted some great tips further down in this conversation:

"As a firefighter i can tell you that although i have not seen these particular fire blankets, i would reccomend them over a damp teatowel every time.

1. they should have small tags on one side of them, which when you are using it you hold the tags which keeps your hands behind the fire blanket and safe from fire .... one of the biggest problems with people using tea towels is that they burns their hands when trying to place it over the pan.

2. another big problem is that people often panic and soak the towel far too much which means that there is water dripping everywhere and if the water drips into the pan it can flash into a large ball of flames.

The biggest reccomendation i can give is that if you are unfortunate enough to have a chip pan fire or indeed any fire GET OUT .... GET US OUT ..... STAY OUT

and one last thing, swap those old chip pans for thermostatically controlled electric deep fat fryers"

I read somewhere that a test on these that showed they are less useful at putting out a fire and had a higher failure rate than a damp tea towel.

I will see if I can find an article on the internet about it

deffo recommend the chip pan replacement - you can leave a deep fat fryer on all day without burning your house down (I know, I have done both)

Throw away the chip pans altogether they are mega unhealthy, nice crisp veggies and alike is what we all need never heard of anyone setting a saucepan of cauliflower alight! ;O) Great tip re fire blanket I'm gonna get 2 to put in the girls bedrooms always handy to wrap round the body if the need for escape ever arises (hopefully it won't) thanks op.

  • My mum picked me and my sister one of these up. Bargain price and super safe.
  • Had a look at the lloyds website and can find no trace of a fire blanket + the heart rate monitor offer says valid until 25/10/05.

Anyone know if they are still available from the stores?

    Many thanks
