I am planning to get a eee PC for use whilst on the road. The Cheapest I can see at the moment is at Toys r Us @ £179 this is for the Linux 4GB version. Does anyone know of anywhere that can do this cheaper? I am not interested in the 2GB version so what can you find?
I could probably shave an extra £2 off by using PC Worlds Price Match 110% of the difference promise.

In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move.0

check out eeeuser.com for advice and tips.
Have had my 701 since they came out last year - running N lited XP at the moment - very pleased with it0 -
diveleader: do you use it as a main machine, or just as a portable internet device? Just thinking about getting one to replace an old laptop for a general purpose machine, and was wondering about their usability as more than just for quick online tasks."In all affairs it's a healthy thing now and then to hang a question mark on the things you have long taken for granted." - Bertrand Russell0

I have spent the last month or so reading that site there are some great tips on there. I have a play with the 701 every time I walk past Toys R Us or PC World and love it. I will be buying it on Saturday hopefully but Mrs Bar will be putting it away for my Birthday in September :-(
I am field based and do not get a laptop supplied by work, they provide us with a desktop and give us Friday afternoon to type up all our paperwork. The plan is to do my work on this and then have all Friday afternoon off. With the size of it it will go in my briefcase so i will not need to carry another bag and it boots nice and quick. The only way of finding the limits of the possible is by going beyond them into the impossible.

I use a MAC as my main machine. The eee I use for web browsing, email when sitting in front of the TV etc.
I also use it for entering info when I am out and about at work.
Its also good for watching movies (on a SD card) whilst in hotels, on planes etc.
The eee is fairly quick for most tasks, but the lack of onboard storage would be a problem if you were to use it as a main machine.
The more expensive 901 with the bigger and higher resolution screen would be better IMHO. (still quite small though)0 -

That is a nice price, however this is the eeePC 701 4G "Surf" which does not come with a Webcam and is not garenteed to come with a access hatch to the RAM. The total price £167.98 if the delivery charge does not change with the offer.White version £164.99 at Misco.

Which is the non Surf i.e. has the Webcam and the Hatch, the total price is 169.18 with the 3 day delivery. So I would say this is the best deal now.
The model in Toys R Us for £179.99 has the webcam and the access hatch and can be picked up in store, when I got mine 2 weeks ago they had a choice of black and white. The only way of finding the limits of the possible is by going beyond them into the impossible.

Except the battery life with teh 4200 ma batteries is not as good as the 701 with a 5400 ma battery..0 -

Get Asus to change the battery in the 90x to the 5800mAh then.
If you're planning on working then I'd seriously consider the extra screen size with the 90x, it will be more comfortable to work on.0
