A friend in London who has recently retired and who is a new convert to Martin's site has saved £700 on her annual Buildings & Contents Insurance AND got better cover.
She was, as many people are, still with the Insurance arm of her original Mortgage providers, (Britannia), and her renewal was just under £1000 for the next year. Being over 50, she tried Saga and got superior Re-building & Possessions cover, plus no need to declare any items worth under £2,500 separately for under £300! She gave Britannia a chance to match Saga's cover and was amazed got her quote increased by a couple of hundred instead of them trying to retain her lucrative business. She switched there & then.
She has now changed her power supplier as Martin suggests and has saved nearly £100 on that, so over this weekend she's saved more than £800 (£1000 if you count the increased quote!), and she's now looking at her car insurance this morning.
GO SWITCH!
